XY Travels – About the Author

I took on the challenge that was presented to me being that in the industry we are in, apparently the month of November is considered National Novel Writing Month. Or shorten NaNoWriMo. The challenge is to write a new novel in the month of November and at least type 50,000 words. This must be set for a generation of people who do not write as often as they could because the number of words seems very low. I have no complaints because the other part of the challenge is challenging indeed.

The reason I feel the number of words is low, is because I almost reached 10k in one day. I am almost caught up to the standard line in order to achieve that amount and that was just in one day. The site Writers Work does have a great feature that accurately shows how many characters, words and time you have spent typing. Great site for analytics.

Writing a novel can be a challenge, even a very short novel. I have been writing a story, or novel if you will, entitled Traveling Through The Trails. This is about a young female traveler on a journey with a few companions looking for a better place to call home. This novel was started last year and there was no intent on finishing it any time soon.

Just recently, before I saw a post made from Airtek Entertainment reblogging a WordPress post about NaNoWriMo, I had made a post on Traveling Trails explaining my future direction with that particular project, claiming it is not done but not one that I will be focusing too much in days to come. The story of Traveling Trails is not one of my own careful planning, outlining, and executing as I had thought it out carefully. Instead it is a story that is mostly channeled from another source. A story that I just started typing and typing, freestyle if you will. There are several times when I went back to read what I wrote in amazement to fits and flows as if it was carefully planned out.

I do not want to interrupt the flow of the story Traveling Through Trails by putting thought into it. I want it to continue to be written when I receive a message to go type and it is for that story. Before Traveling Trails, there were a few other stories, scripts and series that I had started writing long before I took the challenge in late August 2022 to become a writer. I still do not desire to label myself a professional writer, because there are agreements that come along with putting the word ‘professional’ in your title. Same as tattoos. I do them when I desire with whom I desire to share my art on skin with. No pressure, when the timing is right and the tat gun is in my hand I will give it a go with all the knowledge and experience I have with that skill. Not a profession for me at all. I enjoy it that way. In August of 2022 I came to my own conclusion, especially with the era we are in, which is the age of information, that just because I am not a professional at it does not mean I can’t get paid the same as a pro. Knowledge of anything you desire can be found at your fingertips. It is up to each to put action into it to create something from this knowledge acquired.

Wrting is something I enjoy so there are several pieces of works that I have either on notepads or in platforms I write for. It is not that I have unfinished pieces all over the place that I just do not complete. Like most everything I do, it all ties into a bigger picture that sometimes is somewhat unclear to me as well. But it does tie together in a center spinal cord, if you can imagine that. So there is one center story in which most of my writing leads to and in writing it would be a journey going from Airbrushes to Airplanes.

Why Airbrushes & Airplanes? Those are two different fields, correct? They start with Air and it turns out that I am an Air sign. Not that it is the reason or significance. I just like how that played out. Other than that, there is no actual correlation between the two, except for the one I give it. What I am trying to say, going from Airbrushes to Airplanes isn’t a ladder to climb to get to that position. There is no ladder, I have to jump into the sky. By that I mean you don’t start out as a sketch artist, then become an airbrush artist and the next step is to become a pilot. They are totally two different fields.

Airbrush is my profession. My skill that I have worked on since sixteen years of age. I have a daughter who has a daughter now. It is what it is, we start young. Many people currently worry about AI taking over many jobs and all of the fears they have associated with that. From my observation, the music industry and the art industry had been heavily impacted a long time ago. Art and writing are the things I do best. I enjoy rap music in its freedom to express in lyrical or close to lyrical form. The art of telling a story in a song seems so powerful to me, combining the skills I enjoy doing. And the song always needs a front cover, so this is how I present my artwork that tells the story that the song is telling in lyrical form the best I can express my poetry of the live I’ve lived and the lessons I’ve learned. Some where through my eyes and others through observation.

The skill of using an airbrush to create artwork is a skill. A skill, just like flying an airplane, the majority of the people do not experience. Not many people desire to obtain those skills. I am not saying that I am special in any way. What I realized a long time ago is that opening up a super multi-whatever airbrush company would not be all that great for me. I would rather the true artists that desire to learn to airbrush to learn how to do so successfully than to try to force a family member to learn a skill they do not have an interest in. As I stated, the statistics of a person joining this field is not large at all. The success of running an airbrush store for a few select artists to get along with each other and share a pool of money can become a challenge as well. So the thought of having just one airbrush store or company that is to be successful in the current business model is not achievable unless I am around. Meaning after I am gone, the quality of the company might go down as well. So the thought of creating this super successful airbrush store that my kids can be proud of and pass down with great airbrush skills and services can stress an artist out completely and diminish as time goes by.

But I got the skill. Every time I pull away it pushes me back in. I use my skill to help promote my daughter’s business with her middle name. Which can become a cool legacy to pass down, with her middle name. And this time around I came in with the thought that I will just create the art as I get commissioned or inspired to do. I charge what I believe my value is worth from the skill I have somewhat mastered in my own unique way. Those that value the art I create as I do end up connecting with me and we have a fair exchange. I didn’t have to put myself down or negociate. Each party agreed on the terms and conditions. And in the age of information I figured I might as well record myself doing what I do also, because there are not many who do what I do. And in reaching the conclusion of recording myself doing what I do, I might as well strategically set it up so I can stitch it together in the future and put it all as airbrush lessons.

There are days that I feel burned out by airbush. I continue to work on all my projects I have, because as I mentioned, they all seem to guide to one center piece. “The art of telling a story in a song seems so powerful to me, combining the skills I enjoy doing. And the song always needs a front cover, so this is how I present my artwork that tells the story that the song is telling in lyrical form the best I can express my poetry of the live I’ve lived and the lessons I’ve learned.” I would like this information and knowledge to be passed down from generation to generartion. Especially by tying it to financial literacy. Which is something that many of us are just now learning. Remember somewhere in the beginning I said we all started early. So my daughter has a daugher, so when we are talking about generational wealth and passing down to our kids’ kids, I can actually see my kids’ kid running around as a toddler growing up right before my very eyes. And generation wealth truly is at my fingertips.

So I create, work, play, study, learn and apply knowledge and information with experimentation and written documentation to the best of my ability. Because living the life is just as important as documenting it. Some writers get stuck trying to find inspiration for their next novel when all they have to seek is inspiration for their next adventure, I believe. And I do say and believe that it is what I believe. Again, this day in age, it important to add a disclaimer that what I have written and recorded are my opinions and I am not giving anyone advice on how to live their lives, only what I would do or have done from the lessons and experiences I’ve received. So there you have it, my disclaimer.

The story of how I got here is quite interesting but I have written it before and I have lived it before. I have made it public so it can be seen, read or heard by whomever might be interested. My focus now is to live the best life I possibly can and make a jump to an alternate reality showing my next generations that everything is possible if you believe. I went from painting airbrush art designs to flying airplanes, no matter what my past story was. So instead of focusing on what the past looked like, I write tales about heading to the future, going from Airbrushes to Airplanes.
